No similar example is known in Europe. The Jewish Community of Porto is unique in simultaneously owning a Jewish Museum and a Holocaust Museum, alongside the Kadoorie Synagogue, making it a rare comprehensive educational hub in the entire continent. While some important cities like London, Paris and Amestedam have these institutions separately, and generally delivered to municipalities or foundations, Porto's museums, which opened in 2019 and 2021 respectively, are directly managed by a singular Jewish communal organization.

The Jewish museum documents the history of the Jewish community in Porto, culture, and traditions, while the Holocaust Museum of Oporto is the only one of its kind in the Iberian Peninsula. These museums, along with the Kadoorie Synagogue, form a, according to educational project that has no parallel in Europe, attracting over 50,000 teenagers annually.

This is part of a massive revival of an often hated Jewish community during history. It was destroyed by the edict that prohibited Judaism and by the Inquisition, and which was killed again in the 20th century with the "Portuguese Dreyfus" affair. Apparently the country has not yet rid itself of the community, which insists on living, producing, and recording its history, including its achievements and authors, as well as its misfortunes and those responsible.
