As part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Alberto Benveniste Chair of Sephardic Studies, a Hebrew Calligraphy Workshop will take place on May 6th, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, with free admission.
The initiative invites the public to explore the tradition of Hebrew writing, offering a cultural and educational experience connected to Sephardic heritage. The activity is part of the commemorative program of the Chair, which for three decades has promoted the study and dissemination of Sephardic Jewish culture.
The workshop will be led by Rachel Peled Cuartas, who holds a PhD in Religious Studies from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Cum Laude). She is a researcher and translator of medieval Spanish-Hebrew literature.
Currently, she is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Ibero-American Studies of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she continues her academic work in the field of Sephardic studies.
Admission is free.
