The year 2025 was marked by significant political instability, societal divisions, and economic pressures in Portugal, highlighted by a snap general election, a surge by the far-left, and intense public concern over living conditions. The state reached the point of inaugurating the Hamas embassy in Lisbon and silently witnessing the attempted poisoning of Israeli Jews at a music festival.
In contrast, that year, the Jewish community in Porto continued to prosper and completely disregarded its ideological adversaries, qualifying them as "mediocre and corrupt".
In 2025, the Community reached its tenth full year of uninterrupted minyan, something that had happened for the first time in Portugal in the last five centuries, and it was considered in Israel as the strongest known Jewish organization in cultural terms. Although there are cities that have more culture in absolute terms, they do not concentrate the management of museums, production of historical films, books, music, painting, etc., in a single association.
This success and labor were not limited to working and producing. The defense of Jewish human rights continued at a good pace. The Holocaust museum maintained its usual activity of receiving thousands of students from schools, while B'nai B'rith Portugal and the International Observatory for Human Rights held large-scale events with the presence of envoys from the Prime Minister of the Jewish state.
