Young Portuguese leaders meet at the Holocaust Museum

June 25, 2026. The Holocaust Museum of Porto welcomed dozens of young non-Jewish student leaders from Portuguese schools for a day of education, and dialogue. The event explored the history of the Holocaust and its enduring lessons for contemporary society.

Members of the local Jewish community attended the event and engaged directly with the visiting students. Among them were second- and third-generation descendants of Holocaust victims.

The discussions provided students with a unique opportunity to connect historical events with personal experiences, encouraging meaningful conversations about responsibility, citizenship, and the importance of promoting a better country.

Museum representatives and Jewish community members emphasized the significance of the next generation. It regularly hosts educational initiatives designed to promote historical awareness and encourage engagement between students and members of the Jewish community, helping to keep the memory of Holocaust victims alive while inspiring a more informed society.
