The Jewish Community of Belmonte has joined the European Jewish Association (EJA), further strengthening its ties with Europe's leading institutions representing Jewish life.
With this affiliation, Belmonte joins the Jewish Communities of Porto and the Algarve, which are also members of the EJA, enhancing the representation of Portugal's Jewish communities within one of Europe's foremost Jewish organizations.
Headquartered in Brussels, the European Jewish Association is a non-profit organization representing hundreds of Jewish communities across the continent. The EJA plays a leading role in defending the rights and interests of European Jewish communities by combating antisemitism, safeguarding religious freedom, preserving the memory of the Holocaust, supporting the State of Israel, and ensuring the continuity and flourishing of Jewish life throughout Europe.
The Jewish Community of Belmonte's membership marks another important step in its integration into Europe's networks of institutional cooperation. It will enable the community to play a more active role in international initiatives while further strengthening its ties with Jewish communities across Portugal and the rest of Europe.
