The Sharé Tikvá Synagogue recently hosted another monthly meeting bringing together representatives from various religious communities and denominations in Portugal, in a joint effort to promote dialogue and understanding among different spiritual traditions.

The Working Group for Interreligious Dialogue (GT-DIR) is an initiative coordinated by AIMA – Agência para a Integração, Migrações e Asilo, and included participation from organizations such as the Aliança Evangélica de Portugal, the Bahá’í communities, BLIA (Buddhist), as well as representatives from Islamic, Ismaili, and Jewish communities, in addition to several Christian churches, including the Catholic Church, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and the Lusitanian Church.

The meeting began with a guided visit to the synagogue, led by Rabbi Yacov Moreira, who introduced participants to the history and key elements of the Jewish place of worship. The session also included a Q&A segment, fostering an open and enriching exchange.

This was followed by a lunch offered by the Board of the Jewish Community of Lisbon, reinforcing the spirit of hospitality and connection among the different communities present.
