The Portuguese Network of Jewish Quarters held elections on May 22 for its governing bodies for the 2026–2028 term. The electoral process took place at the Jewish Museum of Belmonte, one of the most emblematic institutions dedicated to preserving Jewish heritage in Portugal.

Following the election, the new Executive Board will be composed of the municipalities of Belmonte, Torres Vedras, Penamacor, Sabugal, and Pinhel, which will be responsible for leading the association over the next two years.

The General Assembly will be made up of the municipalities of Carregal do Sal, Guarda, and Fundão, while the Supervisory Board will include the municipalities of Covilhã, Almeida, and Castelo de Vide.

The election of the new governing bodies reinforces the shared commitment of the member municipalities to the promotion, preservation, and enhancement of Portugal’s Jewish heritage. Through a strategy of intermunicipal cooperation, the Portuguese Network of Jewish Quarters continues to establish itself as a key institution in safeguarding the historical memory of Jewish communities and promoting their cultural legacy.

Recognized for its role in fostering the cultural and tourism development of the territories it encompasses, the Portuguese Network of Jewish Quarters strengthens the connection between heritage, history, and local communities, contributing to sustainable development and to the appreciation of the cultural identity of its member municipalities.
