September 30, 2026. Benjamin Netanyahu has criticized the United Kingdom government amid a diplomatic rift over trade bans and sanctions. During an official interview, lashing out at what he described as "absurd" levels of anti-Israel propaganda in Britain, Netanyahu stated: "We gave the Brits the intel that there was going to be an attack, an Iranian-sponsored attack, and pretty much the next day they slapped sanctions on us. It's wild. I mean, the caving in, the collapse before the Islamist-Marxist alliance is very dangerous for the future of the West."
This remark aligns with Netanyahu’s broader political messaging throughout 2026, including speeches at an international anti-semitism conference where he warned of a coordinated effort between "radical Muslims" and "ultra-anti-Western progressives" to undermine Western civilization.
Israeli intelligence had provided British authorities with a tip-off regarding an Iranian-sponsored terror plot targeting RAF Fairford, a UK military airbase used by US forces. Shortly after receiving this high-level intelligence, British counter-terrorism police arrested five British men near the base on suspicion of explosives and terrorism offences, following the recovery of petrol from their vehicles.
At the same time, the UK government moved forward with an announcement imposing sanctions on Israeli trade and settlements.
