Between January 22 and 28, mainland Portugal was hit by three consecutive storms — Ingrid, Joseph and Kristin. The last proved to be the most devastating, claiming at least ten lives and leaving a trail of destruction, particularly in the districts of Leiria, Coimbra, and Santarém. In response to the tragedy, the Israeli Ambassador to Portugal and his team visited Marinha Grande to express solidarity with the victims, delivering water and food to help ease the suffering of the affected communities.

“Our hearts and our solidarity are with the Portuguese people,” the ambassador said. Rozenblat also noted that the tragedy coincided with the Hebrew date of Tu Bishvat, the New Year of the Trees and of Nature, underscoring the symbolism of renewal and hope associated with the occasion.
