Relatives of Luso-Israeli nationals kidnapped by Hamas appeal to Portugal for help

This week, the Israeli Embassy in Portugal received members of Luso-Israeli nationals kidnapped by Hamas during the 7 October massacre who had come to Portugal to appeal for help.

On Monday 5 December, the group spoke with Foreign Minister João Cravinho and with the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas. At the end of the day, the Jewish Community of Lisbon organised an event of solidarity when the families shared the drama they have been living through for two months.

The following day, the families spoke to journalists. The Israel's ambassador to Portugal Dor Shapira declared: "We will do everything to spread the message: bring them home".

Last week there was a six-day ceasefire. Eight Luso-Israelis were among the hostages taken by Hamas. However, the terrorist group broke the agreement and so far no date has been set for the release of other hostages.
