Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee today (Wednesday), in the presence of Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion, signed an agreement at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs allocating the land for the construction of the permanent compound of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem - the eternal capital of Israel.
The agreement marks the beginning of the U.S. Embassy’s transition from its current premises to its permanent new home in Jerusalem. It constitutes a historic milestone in implementing the Government of Israel’s decision to allocate the Allenby Compound for the U.S. Embassy’s permanent compound and represents another significant step in the historic diplomatic process initiated by President Donald Trump in December 2017 with his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and relocate the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. Today's signing is another indication the U.S.-Israel relationship has never been stronger.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar said:
“Today, we mark another milestone in the unbreakable alliance between Israel and the United States.
President Trump’s historic decision to relocate the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem was an act of historic justice. Today, with the signing of the agreement to begin construction of the Embassy’s permanent home, that decision becomes even more firmly anchored for generations to come.
This agreement is about far more than the allocation of land. It is a recognition of history and a declaration of our shared future.
Beyond the values that unite our two nations lies the immense strategic value we hold for one another. Israel is the United States’ most important strategic asset in the Middle East. Just as the United States is indispensable and irreplaceable to Israel, Israel is indispensable to the United States and to its interests throughout this region.”

Mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Leon said:
“President Trump's historic decision is officially turning from paper into stone. Jerusalem has always been our eternal capital, and today we firmly secure the American Embassy on its map.
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to President Trump for standing with Jerusalem, to Ambassador Mike Huckabee, a true defender of our city, and to Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar for leading this vital process.”
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said:
“Today is another historic day for the U.S.-Israel relationship as the U.S. receives the property that will be the future home of the new U.S. Embassy complex - deepening and expanding our presence in Jerusalem - the eternal capital of Israel. The U.S. will construct a magnificent and beautiful new U.S. Embassy complex that will support our indispensable partnership with Israel. The U.S decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem was rooted in implementing U.S. law and the recognition of the deep, historic connection of the Jewish people to their eternal capital that goes back thousands of years. It is meaningful that this milestone has occured on the eve of America’s 250th anniversary. The Judeo-Christian values that inspired America’s founding fathers come from Jerusalem and throughout the land of Israel."
