Gaza ceasefire: The European Jewish Association welcomes release of 50 hostages but says it won’t rest until all the hostages have been released

(Brussels, 22nd of November) The Israeli government has agreed to a ceasefire deal with Hamas of four days to return 50 out of roughly 240 hostages safely.

The European Jewish Association - headquartered in Brussels and representing hundreds of Jewish communities continent-wide - supports this ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. However, the EJA has said it wont rest until all of the 240 hostages have been released and Hamas has operationally ceased to exist.

In a statement today, the chairman of the EJA Rabbi Menachem Margolin said the following;

"This is a major diplomatic decision the Israeli government has reached with Hamas. Of course we welcome the release of 50 hostages.”

"However, the fighting must persist until Hamas is operationally eradicated, ensuring Israel's safety. We won't rest until all 240 hostages are freed."

"It is crucial to eliminate any threat to the innocent lives in Israel. The era of Jewish lives living in fear is behind us. We must pave the way for a future where Jewish children, women and families can live without the threat of the hideous and inhuman barbarism that manifested itself on October 7. "

End.
