The Portuguese Police National Counter-Terrorism Unit (UNCT) flagged 33 digital links hosted on social media platforms within Portugal—specifically 24 on TikTok and 9 on Pinterest. The operation was coordinated across Europe by Europol, involving law enforcement agencies from 19 countries.
The synchronized action successfully flagged and disrupted 14,200 online posts used by the IRGC to spread propaganda, recruit supporters, and raise funds across Europe. The operation culminated in restricting the IRGC's main account on X (formerly Twitter), @Sepah_Media, which had over 150,000 followers, within the European territory. This action follows the European Union's official designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization earlier in 2026.
The very positive news for the Portuguese Jewish community was also marked by a moment of good humor from the police, when they determined the main places to protect, without identifying the synagogues and museums of the Jewish Community of Porto. The "alternative and parallel reality" in which Portuguese authorities live in Lisbon has long ceased to be taken seriously; instead, it has become a joke inside the Jewish community.
