The Mekor Haim Choir, under the artistic direction of Maestro Leonardo Mendonça, held its monthly concert at the Holocaust Museum of Porto on Friday, March 17th, 2023.
In attendance was a class of high school students from Amadora, in the Lisbon area. They toured the museum and then enjoyed the concert.
The program included 9 songs in Ladino and Hebrew from the current repertoire of the choir, including La Rosa Enfloresce, Lecha Dodi, Shalom Aleichem, Eliyahu Hanavi, Ani Ma’amin, and Hatikvah.
Several students approached members of the choir to thank them for the concert. Some were visibly moved by the experience. Comments included: “We have never seen or heard anything like this” and “Thank you for sharing this with us.”
