Mekor Haim Choir to perform at noon on September 7, 2025 in the Kadoorie Synagogue for the European Days of Jewish Culture: Music of The People of the Book

The Mekor Haim Choir will perform a concert of Hebrew and Ladino songs at 12 noon on Sunday, September 7, 2025 in the beautiful Kadoorie Synagogue in Porto. This is part of the celebration of the European Days of Jewish Culture.

The program reflects the choir’s commitment “to teach, learn, and perform Jewish liturgical, Sephardi, and Hebrew music for the education and enjoyment of its members and of the community at large” since its founding in October 2020.

The theme of this year’s celebration is ‘The People of the Book’. The Psalms have provided inspiration for many compositions. Other selections in the concert also have Biblical references.

The program will include:

Ma Tovu  (Numbers 24, Psalm 5), Avram Avinu , Tzur Mishelo Achalnu, Yihyu Leratzon (Psalm 19), Hayedu Hadmaot, Hishki Hizki, Kol Berue, Hallel (Psalm 117) , Hallelujah Halleli (Psalm 146), and Hatikvah.

All are welcome to attend the concert free of charge. To join the choir, contact yonahyaphe@hotmail.com or contact info@comunidade-israelita-porto.org to support the choir.
