On the morning of Friday, November 22nd, Shelly Meshel-Yogev, Libby's mother, brutally murdered on October 7th, was the guest speaker at Chabad House, in Cascais.

Since that terrible day, all Shelly has done is keep a part of her daughter in this world. She can't bear the thought of Libby being forgotten or erased from existence. She was in this life and Sheli wants her memory to last.

Libby Cohen Meguri, 22, from Tel Aviv, was murdered on October 7 by Hamas terrorists as she tried to flee the Supernova Music Festival.

Libby attended the party with her close friend, Adi Rivka Maizel. When the rocket launches began, they tried to flee the rave venue in their car and she was shot dead by terrorists who were lurking on the side of the road.

Libby managed to call her family after she had already been fatally injured and explained the situation to them. After telling them she loved them, she was murdered in a hail of gunfire that the family heard on the call.

Her mother, Shelly Meshel-Yogev, described Libby to Channel 12 as “the happiest person this world has ever known. She was full of energy, happy, light and laughing, from the moment she woke up in the morning until the moment she went to sleep.”

Shelly’s husband, Yariv Yogev, told public broadcaster Kan that “God sprinkled Libby with charisma powder.”

“She could never be passive toward any suffering or weakness in society,” Yogev said. “For those who needed help.”

After completing her military service as an officer in an infantry unit, Libby spent time overseas, as is common for liberated soldiers, traveling around South America for seven months.

She cut her trip short to attend the Supernova Music Party, surprising her family by returning home early one morning.

Libby was active on social media and since her death Shelly has worked to keep her Instagram account active, posting letters she writes to her daughter.

She  is  buried in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery in north Tel Aviv. "Our sun has gone out.” is writing in her tombstone.
