On September 13th, the Israeli Embassy in Portugal celebrated the beginning of Rosh Hashanah with an event for more than 100 people. The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, recorded a video to be shown at the event. In his speech, Rebelo congratulated the Portuguese Jewish community on the entry of the year 5784:
The Israeli ambassador to Portugal Dor Shapira and his wife, Revital, welcomed the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Ana Catarina Mendes, and the daughter and son-in-law of Shimon Peres, Tsvia and Raphael Walden, who last Sunday were together with B'nai B'rith Portugal for a tribute to Peres’ centenary.
