Last Monday, five Israeli athletes who competed for men's teams at the European Athletics Championships in Munich won gold medals. The victory comes 50 years after the massacre at the Munich Olympics, when 11 Israeli athletes were murdered by Palestinian terrorists.
In a statement, the Israel Olympic Committee stated that it was “moved to tears to experience the exciting continuity of Israeli sports on Munich soil”.
Recently, family members of the victims rejected the compensation offered by the German government, claiming that the offer was degrading.
