The Mekor Haim Choir will present its monthly concert at the Holocaust Museum of Porto on 20 March 2026 at 3:00 PM. The special guest this month will be Dr. David Wiegens of Montreal, Canada. He is a retired family physician and a flautist with the Orchestre Symphonique de l’Isle. This will be his fourth visit to Porto to sing with the choir.
The program will include his original setting of Shalom Aleichem, arranged specially for the choir. David will accompany the choir on the guitar.
Other works to be presented include four liturgical pieces arranged in the 19th Century by Emanuel Aguilar of the Spanish and Portuguese congregation of London. The choir will also present Hishki Hizki, a poem written for the opening of the Spanish and Portuguese synagogue in Amsterdam in 1675, and Wiegele, a lullaby written in German by Isle Weber for the children interned in the Theresienstadt concentration camp.
