Germany, Austria, Poland, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Slovenia, Ukraine and Morocco are just some of the countries that today grant nationality to the descendants of Jews who were forced to leave the countries where they were born and which they loved so much.
The number of Israeli citizens with dual or triple nationality is immense, and hundreds of thousands of Jews hold, along with Israeli nationality, American and Russian nationalities. This fact became universally known when two hundred hostages were kidnapped by the terrorist movement Hamas on Oct 7, 2023.
To gain international support, Hamas suggested that it might release hostages with nationality other than Israeli. But soon the radical Islamic movement had to reconsider its initial intention, because it realized that all the hostages had other nationalities or were entitled to them.
The international press soon began to spread the word that the few hostages who did not have dual or triple nationality were in fact entitled to it. Countries like Germany, France and Italy began to grant nationality to those who suffered inside the Gaza tunnels. Within days, dozens of nationalities were granted to the few hostages who were solely Israeli and had never thought of a plan B.
This is the story of a people of forced immigrants. The real heart of the matter is, and has always been in all cases, the return of a right to members of a people whose families were forced to abandon territories throughout the known world, often undocumented and with only the clothes on their backs and children on their lap.
There is intense advertising in Israel by companies specializing in nationality, which makes it better known, more practical and less expensive for those entitled to obtain a passport. The emergence of these companies and this specific area of activity is a fact that has existed for three decades in Israel. It is an activity where thousands of people intervene and work. There is no shortage of offices, lawyers, notaries, translators, and other actors.
The activity of companies specializing in nationality has always generated, and still generates, in Israel, revenues and publicity. However, for European radical socialists this has always been called "business", "abusive advertising", "corruption" and other bitter words.
What for the radical left means "an undue benefit given to Jews", "the granting of passports of convenience", "free transit at airports", "lawyer business with nationality", has never been more than the return of a right.
In addition to countries that grant nationality to Jews for reasons of historical reparation, there are also those that do everything to ensure their contribution to the country's development. Canada is an example.
When in 2016, three hundred Turkish citizens with Portuguese nationality tried to move to Portugal, they ended up giving up on the idea because Canada offered them better conditions to move there. The concern of this specific Turkish population, then presided over by the recently deceased chief rabbi Isaac Haleva (who even presided over a Shabbaton in Oporto, largely taught in Ladino and Hebrew) was the future of their children.
Canada provided all the conditions for these families to settle in the great frozen country. This fact allows us to predict prosperity for this American nation.
