Polish MP Grzegorz Braun has reignited public outrage after stating that “Poland is for Poles, not for Jews.” The antisemitic remark prompted the Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General, Waldemar Żurek, to confirm that he will proceed with legal action against Braun. Żurek emphasized that there is no place for antisemitism in Poland.

Braun is already the subject of other investigations over anti-Jewish statements, including publicly denying the genocidal crimes committed at Auschwitz. His history of provocations includes a December 2023 incident in which he used a fire extinguisher to put out the candles of a Hanukkah menorah lit inside Parliament.

As the case continues to unfold, the Polish government is moving forward with the implementation of a national plan to combat antisemitism and strengthen Jewish life in the country through 2030, in an effort to reaffirm its commitment to protecting minorities and preserving historical memory.
