How an Israeli company helped prevent a terrorist attack in Portugal

On Thursday, February 10, the Portuguese Police detained an 18-year-old student on suspicion that he was going to make an attempt on the lives of professors and university students at the University of Lisbon. In addition to several prohibited weapons, the Police seized a written plan with the details of the criminal action to be launched.

The young man was apparently motivated by neo-Nazi ideals of defending a homeland "threatened" by foreigners and by movements similar to those that led another young man, in Halle, Germany, to try to murder the entire local Jewish community on Yom Kippur day, in October 2019.

The significant police action carried out by the Portuguese Police has a story behind it. The young perpetrator’s communications and intentions were recovered on the Dark Web by an Israeli company, Hagana Security & Intelligence Global Services, which promptly informed the US and Spanish intelligence services, which informed the Portuguese authorities.
