Jewish Museum of Oporto

Schools across the country marked the date of the Expulsion Edict.

Throughout the day, students learned that Jews were present in the territory long before the founding of the kingdom in the twelfth century and that they were linked to its development.

The new painting works concern the role of the Jews in the administration of the county, its development and the phase of its fall when they were forced to leave.

A sede da comunidade judaica do Porto, uma das sinagogas mais majestosas da Europa, é hoje conhecida pelo Yom Kippur que celebra todos os anos, com quase mil pessoas gritando como uma só.

More than 500 years after the expulsion of its community, the Jews of Portugal's second city are defiantly staging a renaissance.

On September 1st, the Jewish Community of Oporto celebrated the European Day of Jewish Culture.
