The ceasefire agreement in the Middle East may be at risk, at a time when Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel is in the region.
SIC's correspondent in Tel Aviv, Henrique Cymerman, reports that Hamas has already announced it will suspend the release of hostages, which was scheduled for next Saturday, February 15.
The pro-Palestinian militant group claims that this decision was made because Israel is violating the ceasefire agreement, an accusation denied by the government led by Netanyahu.
This news comes as Paulo Rangel is in the Middle East, where he has already met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog. During the meeting between the head of state and the Portuguese minister, topics such as Hamas' war crimes were discussed.
Israeli President thanks Portugal
Herzog has already reacted to the meeting with Rangel, highlighting Portugal's voice in the European and international context and expressing gratitude for the work done in defending Israel's cause.
This position was made public on the social media platform X after the meeting on Tuesday at the official residence. The President of Israel also wrote that the release of all Israeli hostages should be the main topic worldwide.
Paulo Rangel will also meet this Tuesday with the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority and later visit the Amari refugee camp in Ramallah, in the West Bank. On Wednesday, he is scheduled to travel to Lebanon.
