On the eve of the second anniversary of the October 7 massacre, the National Library of Israel, in partnership with the Ministry of Heritage, has launched a global initiative to collect and preserve material records of tributes to the victims of the terrorist attack.
The project, called the Bearing Witness Archive, aims to gather items such as stickers, plaques, memory books, and other objects created by ordinary people, family members, or institutions around the world as a form of homage and solidarity. The goal is to create a permanent collection that documents these expressions and serves as a historical record for future generations.
Those who possess such materials can contribute by filling out an online form and submitting photographs of the items through the official website.
According to the organizers, the Bearing Witness Archive is much more than a repository of objects: it is a space that preserves the ways in which the world paid tribute to the victims, ensuring that these acts of memory and solidarity remain accessible for the future.

The Jewish Community of Oporto contributed to the archive by providing images of its memorial honoring the victims of October 7, inaugurated in 2024 at the community cemetery in the presence of hundreds of rabbis from across Europe and Israel.
