This week, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid announced that Israel and Lebanon had reached an agreement on the maritime border between the two countries. The historic decision, which has been under negotiation since 2020, will end a dispute over waters rich in natural gas.
“This is a historic achievement that will strengthen Israel’s security, inject billions into Israel’s economy, and ensure the stability of our northern border”, Lapid said in a statement.
Yesterday, Israel's Security Office voted in favor of the agreement, which was brokered by the United States. The decision will now go through the Full Cabinet.
