Journalist Henrique Cymerman, SIC’s Middle East correspondent, presented in Portugal his most recent book, The Enigma of Israel - A History of the Jewish State. The launch took place in Lisbon on October 7 and in Oporto on October 8. Hundreds of people attended the events to honor the author and his work.
With 360 pages, the book explores the history of Israel and reflects on the scenarios that may shape the future of the Middle East. The writing process began after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the death of more than 1,200 people and the kidnapping of 251 hostages.

According to Cymerman, The Enigma of Israel seeks to explain to readers not only the origins of this conflict, but also its geopolitical and human implications. The author also aims to shed light on the possible paths for a region marked by decades of tension and instability.
