Zangauker, 24, was abducted on the morning of October 7 from Nir Oz along with his partner, Ilana Gritzewsky, who was later released in a prisoner exchange. His mother, Einav, has become one of the most prominent activists advocating for the release of the hostages, often voicing sharp criticism of the Israeli political leadership, which she accuses of sabotaging potential deals.
The family emphasized that the video's release is not "psychological terror" but rather a sign of life.
The footage was released against the backdrop of reports suggesting progress in negotiations for a hostage deal. Earlier today, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani commented on efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza, claiming that "the differences over a hostage deal between Israel and Hamas are not substantial."
Palestinian sources told the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that Hamas has begun counting the hostages held by its forces and other factions in Gaza. According to these sources, the terrorist organization is working to locate Israeli hostages held by other Palestinian groups, possibly to consolidate information ahead of a potential agreement with Israel.
In July, chilling footage of Zangauker was released, showing him being transported on a motorcycle through a crowded area near Khan Yunis. In the video, he is seated between two armed terrorists, while a jubilant crowd cheers at the sight of the "Jewish prize." The recording is believed to have been taken in the initial days after his abduction, during his transfer to a holding location.
