The Embassy of Israel and Cascais City Hall organized a ceremony in memory of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas. The event took place on Sunday, March 2, at 7 PM, in the Main Hall of the Cascais City Hall building, Praça 5 de Outubro.

The world watched in horror as Shiri, a young mother surrounded by armed Hamas terrorists, desperately tried to shield her children — Ariel, just four years old, and baby Kfir, only nine months old. On October 7, 2023, they were violently taken from the safety of their home and abducted to Gaza.

Since then, the “red-haired family” has become a symbol of hope in a nation that refuses to leave anyone behind.

Ambassador of Israel to Portugal, Oren Rozenblat, Rabbi of Chabad in Cascais, Eli Rosenfeld, and Mayor of Cascais, Carlos Carreiras.

Hamas has now returned their remains to Israel in black coffins. The children were strangled, and their bodies desecrated in an attempt to blame Israeli bombings. The family was humiliated once again when Shiri's body was exchanged for that of another woman.

In Israel and around the world — including in Portugal — initiatives and tributes to the Bibas family continue to grow. And there will never be too many.
