ALPI – Association Portuguese for Israel – will hold a civic demonstration on September 21, at 11 AM, in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at Praça das Necessidades, in Lisbon. The initiative takes place in the context of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, which will begin at the end of September under the theme “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights”, where the Palestinian Question will be on the agenda.
The demonstration supports Israel and the six conditions set out by the Portuguese Government on July 31, 2025, for a possible recognition of the State of Palestine: condemnation and disarmament of Hamas; immediate release of hostages in Gaza; institutional reforms and elections; acceptance of a demilitarized Palestinian state with international security guarantees; Hamas’ withdrawal and full control of the Gaza Strip by the Palestinian Authority; and formal recognition of Israel.
ALPI argues that, without the fulfillment of these conditions, Portugal must vote against the recognition of Palestine.
