Christians, Jews and Muslims are part of the history of Mouraria where traces of the Roman occupation of Olisipo, the city that later became Lisbon, have now also emerged.
In Mouraria de Lisboa, teams from ERA (a reference company in the area of Cultural Heritage, promoting research and providing Archeology, Biological Anthropology and Conservation and Restoration services) have been studying an ancient cemetery with graves from various religious cults, namely Islamic and Jewish.
Highlight is a rare set of jewelry that was identified in association with some of the individuals buried there.
Lisbon has a Jewish and Islamic past in its memory that is slowly being revealed by archeology.

The ancient Islamic and Jewish cemetery located in the area of Largo das Olarias and Rua dos Lagares, in Mouraria, is one of the remains that ERA teams have investigated over the years, and another archaeological excavation is underway that adds relevant information.
According to tradition, the bodies would be wrapped in shrouds and deposited laterally in narrow graves oriented from east to west, without any objects associated with the deceased.
The detailed study of human remains will allow us to obtain information about their origin, sex, age at death, pathologies, eating habits, among other possible conclusions.
