Michelle Rukovicin, considered by doctors to be the most seriously injured hostage during the October 7 massacre, celebrated her wedding yesterday, in a joyful moment that took place between the sacred days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
At the time of the attack, Michelle worked as an intelligence systems technician and suffered critical injuries that put her life at risk. Shot seven times, she went more than 14 hours without medical attention and fell into a deep coma for several months. After the massacre, she was paralyzed in all four limbs, unable to speak, eat, or walk.
Determined to overcome her limitations, Michelle promised herself she would walk again, even if it was just to reach the chuppah at her own wedding. Her husband, Rinat, who supported her throughout her long recovery, was a major source of encouragement on this journey.
